So, that was Summer…

I’m sure there was some sunshine? There was wasn’t there?

Well, its been a heck of a season so far huh? Junior sail goes from strength to strength, our new ‘Women on the Water’ (W.O.W) receiving national interest via ‘Yachts and yachting’ and various RYA press reports, Adult and improver training seeing plenty of keen sailors out on the water, racing numbers picking up and seeing a lot of fun being had by all taking part, loads of new members joining us through the year and loads of new/novice sailors stepping into their own very first boats during the last few months….and who can forget the amazing job Paul and Jo did on renovating their Laser2 – from buried in the bushes for the last few years to being out on the water looking like a new boat!

The training team continue to be immense. Remember, the club is entirely run by volunteers, no-one is paid for the work they put in which makes it even more amazing that we see the team turning up every Saturday and every Wednesday throughout the training season – that’s pretty much every Saturday since April with only the odd week off for holidays etc. So, as ever, a huge round of applause to these guys for their incredible work in making Manor Park the best place to come and learn to sail and have a lot of fun!

Don’t forget, though, for all of you ‘Full’ members, MPSC is an all year round club – meaning that yes, we sail through the Autumn and Winter!
The lakes haven’t frozen over the last couple of winters so whilst the water isn’t solid, we can go sailing 🙂
For those of you on ‘Junior’ memberships, you can always upgrade to Full/Family membership to make sure you can enjoy the wonders of Manor Park by Winter.

We have a few social events coming up that you may have received Emails about, but here’s another reminder;

Saturday 28th October: Halloween fireworks and fire evening.
With games such as Apple bobbing and (maybe) Splat the Rat, a fancy dress competition and the famous pumpkin carving display (Kris is currently hard at work building the display stand so don’t let him down!) all on offer, as well as food and drinks from the galley and Ed’s universally famous firework display over the lake this really is a lovely evening for the whole family.
Friends are welcome so grab a few pals and bring them along.
Prices on the night are £7 adults and £4 children.

Saturday 2nd December: Christmas dinner.
For 14’s and over, our annual Christmas dinner evening is a chance to celebrate the festive season with a feast – and without the need to be wearing any neoprene!
A 3-Course dinner menu and a booking form is on the email that was sent out to everyone on September 25th, so fill those in with your dinner selections, together with your payment, to the address given on the form to secure your place.
We’re limited to 40 tickets so grab them while you still can.
If you see Emma around the club you can hand your selection and payment to her in the flesh.
Places will only be secured on payment. Limited numbers means no reserving tickets will be possible.

February (Date to be announced): Celebration lunch at Lichfield Guildhall.
Following last years very successful event, we’ll be repeating it again in February 2018 with guest speakers, prize giving and a ‘bring & share’ lunch.

So plenty to  keep us going through the chillier days alongside the sailing of course!
Winter sailing is, actually, pretty good. Wind is often steadier for starters so just make sure you’re kitted up for those somewhat nippier capsizes 😀

In the meantime, it’s looking like a good day ahead for this coming Saturday so lets see loads of on the water fun and more great racing this week.
