So, it’s Easter this weekend (though I thought it was Easter on December 26th last year when Tesco started stocking creme eggs!!) …..4 days of relaxation…..4 days of sailing! 🙂
Good Friday, Great Saturday, Brilliant Sunday and Fantastic Monday.
Weather-wise it’s not looking too bad at the moment (*writing this on Monday evening) – apart from perhaps Friday when some rain & breezier winds are currently forecast but hey, plenty of time for that to change.
Saturday is “Setup day” for the new Junior season, so all you super-keen junior sailors should head down to the club for a catchup with all your friends, meet your newest Instructors and assistants and get your boat fleet all up & running and ready for action. There’s plenty to do and I’m sure your training team will appreciate the help in preparing for your season ahead.
On Sunday, there’ll be racing as usual, but why not come down and see what it’s all about? Honestly, racing really isn’t that scary and there’ll be plenty of people to chat to both before and after the day. Bring a barbecue and have some Al-Fresco eating on the lakeside patio whilst the guys and girls are out and about satisfying their various Ben Ainslie / Hannah Mills fantasies…..always great post-race banter and could make for a lovely end-of-raceday BBQ this weekend – though bring some woolies just in case huh? 🙂
Actually, why not have a go at racing yourself? Honestly, it’s nowhere near as scary as you think and pretty much ever first timer ends their first race with: “Is that it? …that was great!” There’s plenty of help available, plenty of advice and plenty of support as well as patrol boats and a full race team to keep a look out for you. Come on, what’s the worst that can happen? – Arrive for about 915/930am, sign on, rig up and have a laugh 🙂
Monday? ….well come on down, sail for fun, pootle, bimble, natter. Doesn’t really matter what it is, just come on down. The club is there for you to use and what a great way to kickstart your 2015 season and show off all that new kit you got for Christmas or at the Dinghy show? This season, for instance, I shall mostly be wearing neoprene and lycra with various flashes of Pink.
Gok Wan told me that this year was all about expressing my inner brightness 🙂
Come on, LET’S GO SAILING!!! 😀 😀
