As the Winter series begins to wind down, thoughts are turning to the Spring racing series.
‘Spring’, when the sun shines a little brighter, everything starts feeling a bit warmer and the longer days allow us to start holding more races each Sunday.
So, for the upcoming Spring series, we’ll be making a slight tweek to proceedings to, perhaps, help to get more people out there on the water enjoying the fun and banter that is racing at MPSC.
The format of each raceday will be as follows;
1) Handicap Series Race One.
3) Pursuit series race.
4) Handicap series race Two immediately following the pursuit race.
We will attempt to provide an option for sailors to moor boats on the island in Saddlesall by utilising tyres and a mooring line.
We’ll then be able to ferry sailors back to the clubhouse in the powerboats, returning following lunch.
This should help with the timeliness of races as well as allowing people to actually get back to the clubhouse for a break without having to battle ‘the gap’ 🙂
The start of the Pursuit series also offers a chance to those new to racing to take part without the (perceived) pressure of the startline. Pursuit starts are sent off in Class/Handicap order, so generally there’ll be fewer boats around you on this start, allowing you to concentrate on your procedures.
Of course, the Handicap series sees everyone going off at the same time 🙂
The Spring Series runs from Sunday March 1st to May 24th, so plenty of opportunity to get some time on the water to practice in time to strut your stuff during those balmy Summer days that inevitably lie ahead.
