When next season’s Junior Sail starts, we’ll see a whole new army of keen and eager Assistant Instructors.
Over the last couple of months we’ve seen a hive of activity down on the beach as the training team carried on beyond the ‘standard’ season in order to train even more super-important A.I’s.
Don’t understimate just how hard this course is. Whilst the word ‘Assistant’ is in the title, this is no beach skivvy role and a lot of responsibility is placed upon the shoulders of these guys and – as they’ll also be aiming at achieving their RYA Seamanship Award, will continue to be training as they look toward their ‘Dinghy Instructor’ role.
For the younger members of the team, the “D.I” role opens up a bigger world of opportunity – Beach Holiday clubs, Training Centres, Outdoor activity centres….the world really can be your Oyster and is another side of sailing that is supported and encouraged by our supremely dedicated training team.
Most of the guys and girls involved sail with Junior Sail and are brilliant ambassadors for our sport – so from absolute beginners to potential Dinghy Sailing instructors with a great future in and around sailing! – Well done to everyone, three cheers to you all.
