Well what a day that was!
This years ‘Richard Lightwood Memorial Trophy’ event has to go down as one of the best yet. Seventeen boats on the water in conditions that turned quite tough as the ‘WindGuru’ forecast of big gusts came true.
Out in Saddlesall the course was set and everyone had their (Pursuit) start times.
With a great turnout of both Juniors and ‘Go Racing’ teams, there was certainly a fantastic atmosphere – particularly amongst the guys in the new club Q’bas.
Capsizes aplenty all around the fleet, plenty of smiles and – from Taz and Josies boat – plenty of noise too 🙂 and another Junior, Lydia, showing us all the very definition of ‘determination’ with a never-give-up attitude that was very impressive to watch.
It really was a fantastic day and a fantastic race – I’m sure everyone was pretty battered by the end and it was Andy Meek and Jude Harding that vanquished all to take the prestigious trophy.
Well done to all and I hope the aches and pains are subsiding.
Don’t forget that the latest ‘regular’ race series starts this coming Sunday. Two handicap races, one before lunch and one after. So, if some of you juniors and / or ‘Go racers’ fancy another go at this racing malarkey….come and join us on Sunday morning down on the beach for a great day, super banter and a lot of fun.
